>I couldn’t be more proud of our newsroom for picking up 13 awards last night at the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists annual editorial contest banquet.
Receiving particular recognition was the newspaper’s reporting on a sex scandal that rocked the Torrington Police Department, and on revelations the newspaper brought to light about former state Rep. George Wilber paying a woman $100,000 to keep sex abuse allegations quiet.
